Welcome to the GAR11 Disaster Data Platform
In order to have a stronger statistical significance GAR11 has incorporated substantial new data to improve the analysis of extensive risk. The GAR11 Disaster Data Platform contains the data used for analysis in Chapters 2,3, and 5; it is described in Annex 2 and is referenced in many contributing papers.
All of 22 datasets featured in this site were especially updated and customized for the GAR, courtesy of the respective governments and institutions. The following countries supplied datasets for the GAR 2011: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Venezuela (LAC), India (Orissa and Tamil Nadu), Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Syria (Asia) and Mozambique (Africa).
The overall updating and compilation of disaster loss datasets was coordinated by UNISDR GAR team in Geneva; in Latin America by Corporación OSSO, Colombia; and in Asia and Africa by UNISDR Arab States Regional office and UNDP Regional Centre Bangkok.

| NOTE: Owners of these database make their best effort to publish accurate and useful data. They are the rightful owners of the respective information. It is requested that proper citation be made when quoting this data. Please also refer to the list of servers at the right side of this screen, in which original databases may reside. Please also note that some countries wish to maintain their data private. |
Please note these databases contain a standardized subset of the records of the original datasets as produced by each country.
On one hand, the GAR analysis only uses records of disaster of geological or weather-related origin. Events like epidemics, bilogical and technological disasters were not considered. In addition, several tight criteria of quality has been imposed on these records in order to be analized; for example, only records with established and documented data sources were selected.
Please refer to Annex 2 of GAR 11 for more information. The original datasets (with all events as collected by the corresponding country), can be found at http://www.desinventar.net. Latin American users can also visit http://online.desinventar.org.
